Rangers launch grand search operation

Karachi - 14th September 2011

Today on Wednesday the Sindh Ranger have started a large scale search operation in various areas of Karachi. The heavy contingent of Rangers encircled the various areas in the city, including Suhrab Goth, Machar Colony and started a door-to-door search operation. The operation was launched after the Rangers was tipped off that some terrorists were hiding in the area. Many terrorists of some banned outfits had been hiding in the areas where operation is being conducted.

Female Rangers personnel are also taking part in the operation. The Anti Terrorism Sqaud of the Rangers is conducting the operation and no assistance of police has been asked. This is the largest operation conducted during recent times in the city.

The success of this operation is being clearly hilighted. Many well known gangs members have been arrested and some were killed during the operation. The official say that this operation will almost clean sweep the operation area and surrounding areas.

Daniel Ambassador of France called on Gen Shameem Wynne

Rawalpindi - 14th September 2011

Today on Wednesday the newly elected President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne (HI), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters, Chaklala today. The President of AJ&K remained with General Wynne for some time and discussed the matters of mutual interest. General security conditions and measures were also discussed during the meeting.

Later on Wednesday HE Mr. Daniel Jouanneau, Ambassador of France on his fare well visit also called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne (HI), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters, Chaklala. The Chairman JCSC appreciated the contributions made by the Ambassador in further strengthening the already cordial relations between the two countries.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Meeting

Today on Tuesday the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Meeting (JCSC) was held here at the Joint Staff Headquarters. General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee presided over the meeting which was attended by Chief of Army Staff, General Ashafaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Noman Bashir Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Secretary Defence, Secretary Defence Production, Director General Joint Staff, Director General Inter Services Intelligence, Director General Strategic Plans Division and senior military officer from the three services.

The forum reviewed the prevailing national and regional security environment and the challenges faced by the country and the Armed Forces of Pakistan .Situation on the borders was discussed at length and the participants expressed satisfaction over the operational preparedness of the armed forces.

Relief and Rescue operations by Pak Army

Relief and Rescue operations continue by Pakistan Army troops in flood affected areas of Sindh. Army has deployed over 1000 troops, 70 boats, 50 dewatering pumps for relief and rescues operation in flood hit areas of Sindh. Till date over 30,000 flood affectees have been evacuated to safer places in Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mir Pur Khas, Mithi, Umar Kot, Sanghar and Tando Allahyar. 


Army Medical Corps has established medical camps along with Medical Teams at Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mir Pur khas, Mithi and Naushehro Feroze and treated over 25,000 patients. Two MI-17 Helicopters have been placed at Hyderabad to deal with emergency situation.

One Police man shaheed, and 3 Civilians killed

Today on Thursday four more people, including a police official, were killed in different incidents of violence. According to details, some unidentified persons shot dead a youth, Ghulam Rasool, near Sohrab Goth Police Station while body of an unidentified man, stuffed in gunny bag, was recovered from a car parking of Jinnah Hospital Ward No 12. 

In another incident of violence, police official, Javed, was shot dead by some unidentified motorcyclists on Bakra Pairy Road in Malir. The deceased was working in investigation department of Malir city Police Station. In yet another incident of violence in Machar Colony, Mumtaz, a worker of political party, was allegedly shot dead by Farooq. Police have arrested Farooq and recovered arms from his possession.

Meanwhile, Rangers have arrested a man during a raid on the office of a political party while five alleged target killers were arrested from Banara Colony.

The Frontier Corps is Pakistan's paramilitary force, which took part in an operation on Monday.

Today on Wednesday twin suicide bombs targeting security forces responsible for this week capturing senior Al-Qaeda operatives killed 16 people and wounded 32 others in southwest Pakistan Wednesday, police said.

One attacker detonated his bomb-laden car outside the residence of the deputy chief of the Frontier Corps in Quetta city, before a second attacker blew himself up inside the house, said senior police official Hamid Shakil."Sixteen people have been killed and 32 were wounded," he said.

"It was a twin suicide attack. The house was badly damaged... some members of the family were severely injured. The deputy inspector general himself is injured," he said.

Four members of the Frontier Corps were among the dead, including a senior officer, Shakil and a local security official said, and the wife of the deputy chief and two children were also killed.

The residence of the deputy inspector general is close to other government buildings and official residencies in the city of Quetta, the main town of Baluchistan province, which borders Afghanistan and Iran.

The Frontier Corps is Pakistan s paramilitary force, which took part in an operation on Monday to arrest a senior Al-Qaeda leader believed to have been responsible for planning attacks on the United States, Europe and Australia.

Younis al-Mauritani was picked up in the suburbs of Quetta along with two other high-ranking operatives after US and Pakistani spy agencies joined forces, according to the Pakistan army.

The arrests signalled another blow to the global terror network, four months after Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan by covert US forces, leading to a souring of ties between allies Islamabad and Washington.

The PAF Day

Today on Wednesday the day is being celebrated in the commemoration of the PAF (Pakistan Air Force) heroics in the war of 1965 against India. The Pakistan Air Force celebrates September 7 as the PAF Day in commemoration of the PAF’s role in defending the country and remembering its martyrs in the 1965 war.

On September 6, 1965 war broke out between India and Pakistan. On September 7, 1965 the PAF claimed a heavy toll on the IAF with Sqn Ldr Muhammad Mahmood Alam in his F-86 Sabre claiming as many as four IAF Hunters.

In addition to resisting the Indian army’s attacks in several sectors, and inflicting severe damages to some IAF bases, PAF had destroyed 104 IAF aircraft for a loss of 19 aircraft.
