14 soldiers martyred near Quetta

Musa Khel - 21st November 2011

Today on Monday fourteen soldiers were killed in an ambush blamed on separatist rebels in Baluchistan province. The soldiers belonged to the Frontier Corps paramilitary force. The attack took place in the Musa Khel district, 400 kilometres (250 miles) southeast of the provincial capital Quetta.

It was one of the deadliest attacks on troops and marked the highest number of military dead in a single incident since March when friendly fire killed 13 soldiers on the northwestern border with Afghanistan.

The troops were guarding a private coal mine and blamed the attack on Baluch rebels, who rose up in 2004 to demand political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the province's wealth of natural resources.

Fourteen paramilitary personnel, including a major, were killed and several others were wounded. Baluch militants were involved in this attack. The rebels were armed with automatic weapons and that most of the soldiers died from gunshot wounds in the remote area.

The scene of Monday's attack was not far from Sui town, where two other soldiers were killed in a bombing on Saturday.

Last month, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said the government planned to create 20,000 jobs in Balochistan, admitting that past neglect of the region had fuelled its troubles. He announced a six percent employment quota in some federal government departments and the introduction of 3,000 jobs in tribal police for Baluchistan residents.

ISPR condemn's fake report of Imran-Munter meeting

Rawalpindi - 21st November 2011

ISPR strongly condemn  a news report that Imran Khan was introduced to Munter in the presence of DG ISI. Today on Monday a spokesman for  ISPR has categorically denied the news report which appeared in Sunday Times, a UK newspaper, and also carried in the national media that Imran Khan, the chairman PTI, was introduced to Cameron Munter, US ambassador to Pakistan, in the presence of Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, the DG ISI. It is totally baseless and concocted story, the ISPR spokesman said.

Quoting sources, the report stated that the PTI chief was introduced to Munter in Pasha s presence, adding that Imran Khan is supported by the Pakistani intelligence agency and military.

In Sunday Faisalabad rally, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders openly claimed that Imran Khan is "a pawn of the establishment". Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar alleged that Imran "was backed by intelligence agencies."

In a recent interview with an Indian journalist, Imran Khan said that if he comes to power, he will be General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani boss. Imran Khan further explained that his agenda is to bring the Army under him and make the ISI report to him directly. In an earlier interview, Imran Khan denied any involvement with the intelligence and military.
