Pakistani Aviation Contingent to Participate in Peacekeeping Mission in DRC

Bukavu - 18th January 2012

Today on Wednesday the Pak Aviation-1 Contingent comprising three Puma helicopters arrived at KAVUMU Air Terminal, Bukavu, Congo. The helicopters had initially arrived in Entebbe, Uganda and after necessary fitments and test flights they flew to KAVUMU in South Kivu Brigade (SKB) Area of responsibility.

Remaining strength of the contingent is expected to arrive within this month.  A graceful welcome ceremony was organized at the air terminal to receive the contingent. This is the first Pakistani Aviation Contingent to participate in peacekeeping mission in Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) which reflects the commitment and dedication of Pakistan towards UN and the Congolese Government in bringing peace to this country. Puma helicopters are a valuable addition in MONUSCO military air assets and will help providing better assistance to the UN staff in carrying out their tasks.

Ambassador of China & France called on COAS & CJCSC

Today on Wednesday the H.E Mr Liu Jian, ambassador of China called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne (HI), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters.

They discussed matters related to mutual interests. H.E Mr Philippe Thiebaud, ambassador of France also called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne. He remained with the Chairman for sometime during which matters related to mutual cooperation came under discussion.

Later Philippe Thiebaud, Ambassador of France called on Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani (HI) at General Headquarters today. The visiting dignitary remained with him for some time and discussed the matters of mutual interest.

Ambassador Yamamoto meets CJCSC

Today on Monday the H.E Ambassador Tadamichi Yamamoto, Special representative of Japan for Pakistan and Afghanistan called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne (HI), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) in the late morning at Joint Staff Headquarters.

Ambassador Yamamoto and General Shameem Wynue discussed matters related to mutual interests and international relationship of Pakistan and Japan.

COAS leaves for Beijing

Today on Wednesday the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani (HI) left for Beijing, China today on a five days official visit at the invitation of Chinese authorities.

During the visit the COAS will call on China’s political and military leadership. The interaction will encompass the complete range of Pak-China relations, related to security and defence. COAS was seen off at Chaklala Base by Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General Khalid Nawaz Khan (HI) and other senior military officers.

Bingguo meets COAS & CJCSC

Today on Saturday the HE. Mr. Dia Bingguo, representative of the Chinese President and State Councilor of People’s Republic of China, called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne (HI), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and discussed matters related to mutual interest and emerging geo-strategic situation.

The visiting dignitary who is heading a high powered delegation remained with Chairman for some time. Mr. Dia Bingguo while appreciating the role played by Pakistan in the fight against terror, reiterated that the relations and bond of friendship  between the two countries will be further enhanced .

Later on Saturday noon his Excellency Mr Dai Bingguo, State Councilor China, called on Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani (HI) at General Headquarters.

The two discussed matters of mutual interest. The visiting dignitary was also accompanied by a delegation of high ranking Chinese officials.

No price tag on sacred blood of Shuhada : COAS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani (HI) visited the forward posts in Mohmand and Kurram Agencies on 22nd Decemeber 2011. While speaking to the troops, he appreciated the successes achieved under trying environment and the sacrifices made in the process. He said that no one can put a price tag on the sacred blood of Shuhada of the Nation. The men and women of Pakistan Army are performing their duty of defending Pakistan in accordance with the oath they took. They will continue to do so with the support and prayers of their countrymen, regardless of the cost.

Responding to a question, COAS reiterated that Pakistan Army has and will continue to support democratic process in the Country. The Army is fully cognizant of its constitutional obligations and responsibilities.

 He strongly dispelled the speculations of any military takeover and said that these are misleading and are being used as a bogey to divert the focus from the real issues. He emphasized that the issues of national security need to be considered on merit alone. He concluded by saying that irrespective of all other considerations, there can be no compromise on national security.

Not Agreeing with ISAF findings :ISPR

Today on Friday the ISPR (Inter Services Public Relations) spokesmen Major General Athar Abbas (HI), published a statement that the Pakistan Army does not agree with the findings of the US/NATO/ISAF inquiry as being reported in the media. The inquiry report is short on facts. Detailed response will be given as and when the formal report is received. Today United States also admitted their mistake attack in ISAF attack on Pakistan Army.

This indicates that Pakistan Army has no interest in further continuing war against terrorism at the cost of their men's life and as protest Pakistan has blocked the ISAF supply to Afghanistan after the 26th November incident which martyred 25 Pakistan Army soldiers.
